A roadtrip for a lifetime: Morocco

Follow us along to an extraordinary journey through the vibrant landscapes and rich cultural tapestry of Morocco. Our journey begins from streets of Marrakech to the ancient kasbahs of the Sahara Desert, and we traveled all and around Morocco for 10 days!

Morocco is a country of contrasts, where ancient traditions blend seamlessly with modern life. As we traversed its diverse terrain, we were amazed by the beauty of its landscapes and the warmth of its people. Colors of Marrakech’s medina and the tranquil oases of the Atlas Mountains kept sweeping us out on our feet.

Journey begins

Our journey began in the heart of Morocco’s capital city, Rabat, where we were greeted by the majestic Hassan Tower and the picturesque Kasbah of the Udayas. From there, we made our way to the bustling metropolis of Casablanca, home to the iconic Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque in Africa. Its intricate architecture and stunning seaside location left us in awe of Morocco’s rich cultural heritage.

No trip to Morocco would be complete without indulging in its culinary delights, and we certainly savored every moment. From feasting on traditional Moroccan bread, known as khobz, to savoring the flavors of tagines and couscous, our taste buds were treated to a symphony of flavors that tantalized the senses.

Ancient beauty in Marrakech and vibrant cities

But perhaps the highlight of our journey was our visit to the ancient city of Marrakech, where we were transported back in time to a world of bustling souks, vibrant street performers, and enchanting riads. The city’s rich history and vibrant culture left an indelible mark on our hearts, and we were grateful for the opportunity to immerse ourselves in its timeless charm.

As we ventured further south, we encountered the awe-inspiring beauty of Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its ancient kasbahs and stunning desert landscapes. Its well-preserved architecture and rich history offered a glimpse into Morocco’s storied past, leaving us humbled by the resilience of its people and the enduring legacy of their ancestors.

In the oasis town of Skoura, we marveled at the Kasbah Amridil, a centuries-old fortress that stands as a testament to Morocco’s architectural heritage. Its labyrinthine corridors and intricate mosaics spoke volumes about the craftsmanship and ingenuity of generations past.

Places that made us stand still for a while

Our journey also took us to the ancient city of Fez, where we witnessed the time-honored tradition of leather-making at the Chouara Tannery. Here, we learned about the labor-intensive process of transforming raw hides into soft, supple leather, and gained a newfound appreciation for the skilled artisans who have kept this ancient craft alive for centuries.

In the enchanting blue city of Chefchaouen, we were left speechless by its cobblestone streets and azure-hued buildings, which seemed to glow in the soft light of the Mediterranean sun. Here, amidst the tranquil beauty of the Rif Mountains, we found respite from the hustle and bustle of modern life, and reveled in the simple pleasures of exploring its charming alleyways and hidden corners.

Our journey culminated in the vibrant port city of Tangier, where the sights and sounds of the Mediterranean greeted us with open arms. From its bustling markets to its picturesque waterfront, Tangier offered a fitting end to our unforgettable adventure through Morocco.
