Colors of Marrakesh

In the bustling streets of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, amidst the labyrinth of cobblestone alleys and historic architecture, there exists a world of vibrant hues and timeless beauty. It’s here that we first encountered the remarkable talent of Carlos Zilli, a Spanish street painter whose watercolor creations breathe life into the ordinary and transport us to extraordinary realms.

“Colors of Marrakesh,” our original ThisWorld -film, is a testament to the boundless creativity and unwavering passion of Carlos. Through his eyes, we embarked on a journey beyond borders, immersing ourselves in the sights, sounds, and flavors of Morocco’s enchanting city, Marrakesh.

For Carlos, inspiration knows no bounds. From the melodies of street musicians to the bustling markets teeming with life, every moment serves as a muse for his art. His paintings are not merely representations but windows into the rich tapestry of history and culture, where the past intertwines with the present in a harmonious dance of colors and textures. “Sometimes I wond how these ancient places would be with the original people walking around“, Carlos explains his vision.

Process of creating art

But for Carlos, the creative process extends far beyond the strokes of a paintbrush. It’s about embracing new experiences, diving headfirst into unfamiliar territories, and allowing oneself to be transformed by the journey. In Marrakesh, we witnessed firsthand his eagerness to immerse himself in the local culture. We tasted local dishes together, drank mint tea and smiled with locals. This was all part of Carlos’ process of falling in love with the inspiration before bringing it on to canvas.

It is truly remarkable how dedicated Carlos is to his craft. He understands that perfection is not found in the first brushstroke but in the willingness to start, to explore, and to embrace the imperfections that make each piece unique. From the initial spark of inspiration to the final stroke of genius, “Colors of Marrakesh” chronicles the entire journey, offering viewers a glimpse into the soul of an artist.

Produced with heartfelt dedication by Keoni Carrion, this film is a celebration of art, adventure, and the power of human connection. We extend our deepest gratitude to the people of Morocco for their warmth and hospitality, which made this cinematic journey possible.

And our deepest thanks to Carlos Zilli, who took us with him on a journey of creating art. It was truly remarkable and his art will keep inspiring us for years to come.
