4 seasons in 4 weeks: Japan

Tag along to the journey through the Land of the Rising Sun with ThisWorld Original film, “A month in Japan”. Over the course of a month, we embedded ourselves in the rich tapestry of Japanese culture, from the bustling streets of Tokyo to the serene beauty of Kyoto and the pristine landscapes of Kerama National Park.

Tokyo has it all

Japan is a land of contrasts, where ancient traditions and cutting-edge technology coexist in perfect harmony. Our journey begins in the vibrant metropolis of Tokyo, where the energy is palpable and the possibilities are endless. From the neon-lit streets of Shibuya to the serene temples of Asakusa, Tokyo is a city that never fails to inspire and amaze.

Behind the skyscrapers and bustling crowds, we find solace in the art of karate, a martial art that embodies the spirit of discipline, respect, and perseverance. Karate, which originated in Okinawa, Japan, is not just a physical practice but a way of life, teaching practitioners to harness their inner strength and cultivate a sense of harmony with the world around them.

As we delve deeper into Japan’s natural beauty, we find ourselves in awe of the majestic Mount Fuji, whose iconic silhouette has inspired artists and poets for centuries. Did you know that Mount Fuji is not only Japan’s highest peak but also an active stratovolcano? Its symmetrical cone and snow-capped summit make it one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world.

Throughout our journey, we were captivated by the stunning diversity of Japan’s landscapes, from the cherry blossom-lined streets of Kyoto to the lush forests of Kerama National Park. Each destination offered a unique and unforgettable experience, leaving us humbled by the sheer magnificence of nature.

Falling in love with Japan

One of the highlights of our journey was our visit to Kyoto, the cultural heart of Japan. Here, we explored ancient temples and immaculately manicured gardens, deep diving ourselves in the timeless beauty of Japan’s past. Kyoto is a city steeped in history and tradition, where every corner tells a story and every sight is a work of art.

Filmed by the talented Josh Kohler, “A month in Japan” captures the diversity of Japan with stunning cinematography and lovely storytelling. Josh’s love for Japan shines through in every frame, bringing to life the beauty and wonder of this extraordinary country.
